Some of us with more of an eye for style are busy planning summer vacation spots, while others are anticipating the major fashion trends of the upcoming season. After all, winter will end in less than two weeks. And the idea of all the greatest spring/summer fashion on the horizon must cheer us up during these very chilly mornings, doesn't it?

Although layering has been enjoyable, dressing practically doesn't always allow for much creativity or individual expression. What good is an outfit that you may be wearing of the year if it's hidden by the bulky winter coat you've been forced to wear every day for the past few months? This is why we're going to be spending the next several weeks (spoiler alert) hoping for more great spring weather and an especially stylish spring outfit.

ELEVATED FITNESS

The days of saving athletic clothing for specific sports activities are long gone. Sportswear basics have been making their way into our everyday wardrobes lately, but never more so than for spring 2024. This is perhaps a carryover from the pandemic's lockdown aesthetic of daily loungewear. Nowadays, supersized hooded sweatshirts have replaced flowy day dresses; monochromatic zip-up track tops are the ideal accessory to match your favorite jeans; and cropped leggings, which are a true statement when paired with heeled pumps, are eerily evocative of 1960s pedal pushers.

CASUAL BUSINESS

Why not take advantage of one of the greatest trends for spring a bit early this year, for those who are currently suffering with their office wear look? The SS24 workwear trend is easy to understand, it's all about easy tailoring, and we don't simply mean a skirt that allows you to breathe. Using wildly enormous suits, blazers that reach your thighs, and perhaps even an elasticated waist on a Friday, this business casual looks excessive. Try playing with the proportions by teaming it with a tight-fitting top or a slim-knit top.

SHORT SHORTS

This last trend won't come as a surprise to anyone who has followed the celebrity fashion scene even a little bit in the past few weeks. These almost-knicker-like tiny shorts have been all the rage since they first appeared on the runway. Among those who follow street style, Beyoncé and Kendall Jenner have been observed experimenting with fashion. Of course, because they expose about half of your body, they require a certain level of bravery in addition to warm weather to pull off. Like Alexander McQueen, you may cautiously dabble in the trend by wearing yours with thigh-high boots for an added layer of coverage.

SHEER WHITES

Since a few seasons ago, sheer materials have been a major trend in evening wear, never more so than on our favorite red-carpet superstars. However, there will be a very specific way to wear the trend in 2024. Nothing is more stylish in the spring than a sheer white dress, whether you're wearing it to dinner, the beach, or, of course, a red carpet-event. It gives pure white a seductive edge. As a wedding guest, perhaps just stay away from it.

DRESSING MASC/FEM

There's no doubt that towards the end of last year, skirts took the place of pants as the go-to item for everyday wear. However, although denim minis ruled for AW23, it appears that the skirt is getting a hyper-feminine update for SS24. Think ultra-mini, ultra-sheer, flowing, or elegant; this skirt is a key component of the Masc/Fem Dressing aesthetic trend, which will be enormous come spring. Most importantly, a flirtatious vest or a charming, cropped cardigan are no longer the go-to pieces to combine with these skirts. Instead, consider bulky blazers, male sweaters, and large shirts.

HIGH -RISE TROUSERS

For a few seasons now, low-slung waists have been the topic of trend reports. However, it's time to bring back the high-rise, and I can almost hear the millennials among us exhaling in relief. Ideal for many occasions such as work, dates, dinners, and outings, the high-rise rule may be included in your trouser collection regardless of whether you're wearing jeans, sweatpants, or tailored pants. Invest in a classic belt to add flair to the ensemble.
